Student Planner Campus & IT Handbook INTRODUCTION
Dear Student, As Vice President for Student Affairs and Services and Chief Diversity Officer, I would like to welcome you as a new student or welcome you back if you are a returning student to the University of Cincinnati. This is a great University and I am very pleased that you are a member of this special learning community. As a learning community, UC offers you a rich and exciting educational environment that affords you an array of challenging and enriching experiences. You will acquire skills that define your future career path, deepen awareness of your values and beliefs, enhance your intellectual capabilities, and increase your appreciation of other cultures and perspectives. A university community is a special place in which you will be exposed to many different cultures, views, and ideas. The University of Cincinnati Student Planner Campus and IT Handbook is an essential resource to all students, both those who live in our on-campus residence halls and those who reside off-campus. The planner/handbook provides important campus dates and events, assists with time management, and will also acquaint you with the broad array of resources available to you as a UC student. I hope you will review the information carefully. Some of the information you will use immediately; some material will be important as future reference. Please use and retain this planner/handbook to help you find information in an easily accessible format. UC is committed to building a community among students, faculty, and staff. Each of us on campus can play a role in making this university a more caring and just community as well. When you take an active interest in your education, get involved in campus life and learn more about other cultures, you are making an invaluable contribution to building our special community. Take time to get involved and make UC a better place for yourself and
others. The more you invest in your learning, as you become a part of our
community, the more you will gain from your experiences in and out of the
classroom. I also encourage you to take advantage of the resources available
to you in the Division of Student Affairs and Services. I extend a warm
welcome to you and encourage you to have fun and make new friends along the
way.
