Telephone Services
UC STUDENT TELEPHONE AND VOICE MAIL OPTIONS
Students also can order traditional landline telephone and voice mail
service for their resident hall room from UCit Network & Telecommunications
Services. Students can provide their own telephone and answering machine or
lease a telephone and a voice mailbox from UCit. The monthly charge for the
telephone and voice mail will be billed directly to the student ordering the
service.
Information about leasing telephone and voice mail services from UCit for
your room can be found at:

Telephone and voice mail services may be ordered by completing a Student
GET-it request form found at
https://www.uc.edu/ucit/studentgetit/cls.aspx or visit a GETit Services
computer located in the lobby of your resident hall.

LONG DISTANCE DIALING (Including
International Calls)
All long distance calls must be paid by the student. A student may elect to
use any prepaid calling card. Long Distance directory assistance is provided
by your long distance service provider. Do not call the University Operator.
The University Operator cannot place a long distance call for you.
CALLING CARDS
Students may charge calls to any calling card, using applicable calling card
instructions. Remember to dial “9” when using campus telephones to call
off-campus.
DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE
The University uses a speech directory system. Dial “0” from a campus phone
and the system will prompt the caller with: For a college or department
directory say 1. For a names directory say 2. Speak clearly, do not add
superfluous wording, and reduce background noise as much as possible. If,
during normal working hours, the system can not forward your call, you will
be connected to a University Operator.

The e-directory provides lookup for faculty/staff, departments and students.

The student e-directory is updated nightly from the University student
information system and contains students registered for the quarter.
Cincinnati Bell: http://ucdirectory.uc.edu/cincinnatibelldirectories.htm
The Cincinnati Bell directories can be accessed online from the University
directory server or can be downloaded to your PC.
PDA Directory: http://ucdirectory.uc.edu/pda.asp
The PDA Directory is designed for display on PDA’s and features full search
capability.
Cell Directory: http://ucdirectory.uc.edu/cell.asp
The PDA Directory is designed for display on cell phones and features full
search capability.

To call any telephone number on the Uptown West or Uptown East (Academic
Health Center), Stratford Heights, or University Park residences, enter the
last 5 digits of the telephone number.

900 Dialing: To access 900 numbers, call 6-5600 to make
arrangements.
